For the Global Game Jam this year, we created an AR/dance game called ORNI, inspired by the theme “ritual”.
I needed to create a bunch of images that our software could read from a distance of around 2 feet, while they were wrapped around someone’s moving body.
I did some black and white line drawings for testing, and while the image target recognition library rated them 5 stars (like the image of the hand), it didn’t have nearly enough reference points for the app to see and process it quickly enough.
So I ended up creating a bunch of detailed, high-contrast mandalas in not very much time, which was kind of a nice, chill way to spend a sleep-deprived Saturday evening. The purple lacy one is my favorite.
